The Cloud Platform & Infrastructure team builds and operates our hosted and AWS cloud platforms that deliver our SaaS services to our customers.

The team owns the following segments:

• Our application hosting platform, that is based deployed on physical asset in hosting data centres in UK, USA and Europe.
• Our SaaS offering deployed in AWS in both classic VMs and on Kubernetes clusters and is designed to address scalability, availability and multi-region hosting.
• The Observability platform, which is based on Prometheus, Loki, Grafana and is integrated with our application hosting and developer platform.
• Automation tooling.

The primary purpose of the role is maintain the availability, performance, security, commerciality and operational viability of the platform, ensuring that customers get value from their investment in the Sycurio products and services.

Key Responsibilities

As Cloud Platform Engineering Manager, you will be leading the whole platform engineering organization. This role involves responsibilities in the following key areas:

• Provide technical leadership to the team with your experience and focus on simplifying and accelerating the operational viability of the cloud and application hosting platform, observability and cloud governance.
• Continue to build a world class team of platform engineers by attracting and hiring high quality talent across US, UK and India. We are expanding in India, so part of your time in this role will involve working closely with rest of engineering in supporting a development centre in India, and attracting the best talent there.
• Build and maintain a relationship with the Customer Support and Customer Success teams where customer advocacy is central to success.
• Work with senior management and align roadmaps, communication strategy and evolution of platform based on their feedback and users of our platform.
• Engage with external vendors in negotiations and drive Sycurio’s cloud governance program, thereby getting involved in build vs buy decisions as needed.
• Develop and execute on a consolidated observability, telemetry and automation strategy that supports the business strategy.
• Ensure financial operation best practices are applied so that the fit for purpose quality of service is delivered with optimal commerciality.

Technical Skills

• 10+ years in a strategic engineering leadership role, setting vision and leading teams of 10+ people with excellent experience in leading and evolving manager.

• Demonstrated ability to engage senior leadership and drive strategic outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to work with internal users as customers.
• Strong architectural abilities towards building a wholistic B2B SaaS product experience.
• Deep knowledge with Kubernetes, AWS and classic hosting technology.
• Understanding of telephony technology (SIP, session border controllers etc).
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, etc.
• Experience with Gitlab, Artifactory, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD and good understanding of different deployment architectures.
• Experience with cloud cost governance involving forecasting and managing costs.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
